Why I keep a credit card-sized multi-tool in my wallet (18 functions)
Published: February 22, 2026
Been carrying one of these survival cards for 6 months and it's surprisingly useful. Few insights:
• Size matters: Fits perfectly in wallet without bulk. Way more practical than bulky multi-tools for everyday carry
• Actually functional: The bottle opener, screwdrivers, and ruler get used weekly. Not just gimmicky tools
• TSA friendly: Unlike knives, this passes through airport security (though check current rules)
Best use cases: fixing glasses, opening packages, measuring stuff, emergency situations. Not gonna replace a full toolbox but covers 80% of quick fixes.
Only downside: some functions are tiny and awkward to use with big hands.
TL;DR: Credit card multi-tools are actually practical EDC items. 18 functions in wallet-sized form factor beats carrying nothing.
