Switched to beeswax wraps 6 months ago - here's what I learned
Published: February 22, 2026
After going through rolls of plastic wrap monthly, I tried beeswax food wraps and honestly wish I'd made the switch sooner.
Key insights from 6 months of use:
• Longevity: One set has replaced probably 4-5 rolls of plastic wrap. They're still going strong with proper care.
• Versatility: Work great for covering bowls, wrapping sandwiches, and storing cut vegetables. The warmth from your hands helps them stick and mold.
• Maintenance: Wash with cool water and mild soap. Avoid hot water as it melts the wax coating.
The upfront cost feels steep compared to a roll of plastic wrap, but the math works out when you consider how long they last. Plus zero guilt about single-use waste.
Only downside: they don't work well for raw meat (hygiene concerns) and lose stickiness over time, though you can refresh them.
TL;DR: Beeswax wraps are a solid plastic wrap alternative that last months, work for most foods, and significantly reduce kitchen waste. Just avoid hot water when cleaning.
