Home Office Ergonomics: 4 Fixes for Neck Pain That Actually Work
Published: April 01, 2026
If you're hunched over a laptop all day, your neck is probably screaming. Try this instead of just stretching:
1. Stack books under your monitor – Top of screen should be at eye level. No stand? Use a shoebox + rubber bands to prop it up.
2. Keyboard tray hack – Slide a baking sheet under your desk, add a mouse pad, and boom: instant under-desk tray for $0.
3. Phone as posture coach – Prop it behind your monitor facing you. If you slouch, it'll glare at you. (Yes, really.)
4. The 20-20-20 rule with a twist – Every 20 mins, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds… but also reset your shoulders to neutral. Most people forget the shoulders.
