Gym Newbie? Don't Waste Money on Gimmicks — Focus on These 3 Essentials First
Published: March 07, 2026
Starting the gym can be overwhelming — flashy gear everywhere, but most of it's useless for beginners. After coaching dozens of new lifters, I've found 3 accessories that actually make a difference: a flat weightlifting belt for core support (not support pants), minimalist lifting shoes for stability, and a simple foam roller for recovery. Skip the gloves, fancy trackers, and vibrating massagers — they don't move the needle. Build consistency first, then upgrade. The real 'accessory' is good form, not Instagram-worthy gear.
TL;DR: Start with a flat belt, lifting shoes, and foam roller. Everything else is noise.
